Sekondi Eleven Wise say German Hans Dieter-Schmidt is only arriving at the club as a technical director and not to take over from C.K Akunnor as coach.
Several media houses including KickOffGhana.com have reported of the parting of ways between the former Black Stars captain and Wise after a poor start to the season but club officials insist Akunnor and his assistant are still at post even though they admit Schmidt has been brought in to boost the technical base of the team.
Wise deputy chief executive Charles Osei Asibey told KickOffGhana.com that the club have brought the German in for reinforcement.
“As we speak, Akunnor is still at post. He will still take charge of training and a lot of the decisions but we thought we needed to boost that area which is why we have brought Schmidt in.”
Wise insist Akunnor has no qualms with that arrangement even though he had threatened to resign a few weeks ago when the idea of a technical director was first mooted.
And in a system where the arrival of a technical director has often led to the departure of the substantive coach, there is still no guarantee Akunnor will be at Wise for long.
