Ernst Middendorp will return to the Ghana game with AshantiGold after his spells at Kumasi Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak.

The German now working in China will take up the role as technical director of AshantiGold FC after Fortia Limited took over the club.

Fortia’s lead consultant, Herbert Mensah was the man who first brought Middendorp to Ghana in 1999 when he was the chairman of Asante Kotoko.

He again negotiated the return of the German to Ghana with Hearts of Oak in 2004 and has now called on the German as they seek; they say to make AshantiGold a force on the local and continental scene again.

Middendorp also worked in South Africa with Kaizer Chiefs and Herbert is convinced he knows the African terrain well enough to do a good job with AshantiGold.

“I think Middendorp can help us to shape our vision,” Herbert said.

“He understands everything about our players here on the continent.”
