Mobile Telecommunications Network, MTN, the leading mobile service provider in Ghana and Hearts of Oak have concluded a sponsorship deal which will provide the Phobians a whopping $1.4 million package in the coming season.
The deal, expected to be signed in the coming weeks, is not only an improvement on the current $300,000 deal signed with the same sponsors, but comes as the most attractive club sponsorship package on the local scene.
A Hearts source told the Graphic Sports yesterday that following discussions held in the past week for the improvement of the old deal, the company had finally agreed to sponsor the new package.
He said a formal ceremony at which the deal would be unveiled was set for the coming weeks when the company would outline the various packages involved.
But Graphic Sports has learned that besides a monthly financial package which the club stands to benefit from the deal, part of the amount will be commuted into the company’s product.
Besides, Hearts will be provided with a top-of-the-range 53-seater bus for the players and 4x4 vehicle all branded in the company’s colours, a supporters mobilisation fund and special project fund.
With the new deal, MTN will contribute towards any other ventures that the club will engage in in the future. Also, under the package, Hearts players will receive enhanced salaries and bonuses.
The source dispelled rumours that MTN had failed to live up to their obligations in the contract they signed earlier with Hearts saying it was his club that never cooperated with the company.
