Accra Hearts of Oak have admitted they owe some of their players winning bonuses from the last two years but insist that does not include outstanding payments for domestic games.

Former Hearts goalkeeper Sannie Mohammed was scathing in his criticisms of the club after he was sacked by the Phobians. He has accused the club of treating the players poorly since then.

"This is a club that has not paid winning bonuses to players for more than two seasons and yet they create the impression that by sacking everything will be well," he told KickOffGhana.com.

"They should be putting the interest of the players first."

Sannie’s comments have not gone down well with some Hearts officials but the club’s Director of Communications admitted they owed some of the players.

“There is an issue with the winning bonus from two years ago when they beat Etoile du Sahel to qualify for the group stage,” Albert Commey, Hearts’ Communications Director told KickOffGhana.com.

“But the club explained the unique difficulties at that time and promised to pay the players plus interest when the time comes.

"Apart from that there is no issue with owing players for games played during the domestic season.”

Hearts placed 8th last season in one of the poorest performances ever but Commey insist players cannot use financial difficulties that the club is facing to justify their own poor performances on the pitch and is bullish that Hearts will perform much better in the coming season.
