Sacked Accra Hearts of Oak goalkeeper Sannie Mohammed says the club will continue to struggle unless it begins to make player welfare its priority.

Mohammed is one of eight players deemed surplus to requirement by new coach Kosta Papic but the players say the club has its priority all wrong.

"This is a club that has not paid winning bonuses to players for more than two seasons and yet they create the impression that by sacking everything will be well," he told KickOffGhana.com. "They should be putting the interest of the players first."

Sannie spent five seasons at Hearts and claims the decision by Hearts to transfer could be a blessing in disguise.

"In a way I am happy this has happened. When you play for Hearts of Oak everyone feels you must be doing good when in truth you are in constant financial stress, he complained. Now I can move on to something better, to a club where I will be treated fairly."

Sannie won League titles and a CAF Confederations Cup with Hearts and says he is leaving convinced he made his mark in the side.

"They said they are letting us go after an appraisal but they can never use poor form as an excuse. The fans know, the management knows and the technical men know I was a very good goalkeeper.

“It is the reason they looked for me every time there was a Hearts/Kotoko game around because they know they could count on me in the big moments."

Sannie's problems with Hearts seem to be heavily financial. He feels the club has let him down in the money stakes.

"When you play for Hearts of Oak your family members feel you must be doing well. It s big name, good reputation and all and in this part of our country they say a good name is better than riches but it does not always work that way because you must feed your family and build something significant for yourself."
