Kudjoe Fianoo has quit as AshantiGold Chief Executive Officer over what is lack of support and interference from the club’s board.

Fianoo has been in charge of AshantiGold for three seasons but says too many people associated with Obuasi gold mine who have been the back bone of the club are keen to have a say without providing the money.

"For now, I want it to be personal but if you work with the club and anybody at the top hierarchy of the mines can interfere with your work, then I have to quit.”

"I applied as CEO and not as an employee of the mines so they have to understand that.

"I think leaving the club is the wisest thing to do for now because there is no financial support coming from anywhere."

The departure of Fianoo could have repercussions for the future of Mohammed Gargo as coach of the club.

The ex-international got his break in football management with the unflinching backing of Fianoo but could now be forced out with the departure of his main pillar of support.
