Kumasi Asante Kotoko have bolstered their squad for the League stage of the African Confederations Cup competition.

The Porcupine Warriors have added five new players to their playing list as they strive to win the title for the first time, having missed the opportunity to taste glory during the maiden competition.

The Reds have had to reinforce their squad with the central defence and attack, their major areas of concern.

Shortage of defensive cover forced Kotoko to recall Godfred Yeboah from loan at Wa All Stars in the run up to reaching the group stage.

With the sport governing body, CAF, due to close registration of new players on Tuesday, Kotoko have strengthened with the signing of Real Tamale United defender Hanan Giwah, Heart of Lions man Michael Ofosu Appiah and their own trio of Mark Sekyereh, Kwame Obeng Darko and Kwadwo Poku.

Giwah was one of the outstanding performers of the last League campaign and Kotoko hope he will provide stability alongside Ofosu Appiah.

Kwadwo Poku scored ten goals during the domestic league season for the Porcupine Warriors and will be expected to provide other options upfront alongside the powerful Kwame Obeng Darko, who missed a greater part of the club’s league success.
