Michael Essien has paid tribute to Milovan Rajevac's role in Ghana's World Cup qualification saying the Serbian deserves credit for a wonderful campaign.
The Chelsea midfielder drove Ghana from midfield in typical fashion and got kingly ride from his fellow players in addition but was quick to insist that it was Rajevac whose appointment and early days were characterised by early criticism who deserves the credit. "He has done a great job so we have to thank him. He has confidence in his players and that helps a lot," Essien told KickOffGhana.com. Essien and his team mates spent a while on the pitch lapping the applause of the fans and sharing hugs as the nation celebrated another football landmark but he was quick to point out that the party should not take long because there are preparations to be done. "We have to take it easy because there is a game to play on Wednesday which is equally important," he said in reference to Ghana's friendly against Japan on Wednesday in Utrecht.
"We have been to the world cup before so we will go as a more experienced unit."
