Ghana captain, Stephen Appiah will not play any part in today’s international friendly against South Africa.

The midfielder, who was named in Milovan Rajevac’s 16-member playing squad, could not join his colleagues as scheduled on Tuesday for the game on Wednesday in Bloemfontein.

Appiah captained Ghana to reach the next round of qualifying for the 2010 World Cup with a 3-0 win over Lesotho on Saturday at the Sekondi Sports Stadium.

The Black Stars captain ended his ten-month absence from national duties after he returned to the fold of the Black Stars for the joint 2010 African Nations Cup and World Cup qualifier in September 2008.

The midfielder had spent a lengthy time off the pitch after months of rehabilitation from an injury since the end of November last year.

However, Appiah earned a place in Milovan Rajevac’s team for the game against Libya in Tripoli last month and played his second game for Ghana this year on Saturday.
