Ghana seeded for 2010 final round

Ghana have been seeded for the draw of the next stage of the 2010 World Cup qualifiers by football’s governing body Fifa.

This means Ghana, who managed to ease to the top on the final day of the first qualifying phase on goal difference will not meet Nigeria, Ivory Coast, Egypt and Cameroon, who will all go into pot A of the draw due to be held on October 22 in Zurich.

World football governing body says it settled on the seedings based on the current Fifa ranking.

The five seeds are currently the top five African national teams per the football governing body’s monthly rankings.

Ghana is keen to make the World Cup for a second straight time after a maiden appearance in 2006.
