South African side, AmaZulu’s Ghanaian playmaker Mohammed-Awal Issah has gone to Serbia for trials with Red Star Belgrade.

AmaZulu PRO Philani Mabaso confirmed the news, saying the Ghanaian is scheduled for a week-long trial.

“The club decided to let him go because we are not engaged in Premiership action due to the international weekend. He will be back for our Telkom Knockout Cup game against SuperSport here at home.

“We are happy for him, but since he is one of our key players, we would like him to leave us at the end of the season,” said Mabaso.

Awal, who left for Serbia on Wednesday, joined AmaZulu two seasons ago and has represented his country at Under-17 and Under-20 level.
