Ransford Osei is in Israel to begin a loan spell with Meccabi Haifa that will last until December 2008.

The junior international who turns 18 in December arrived in Israel on Thursday for the beginning of his long awaited professional football career outside the shores of Ghana and is absolutely delighted to have clinched the move.

“I waited for the chance to play outside and now my whole mind is focused on doing well,” he told KickOffGhana.com.

“I just want to score goals and help the team do as well as it can.”

Osei had to give up his dream of playing in England with Manchester City, because of England’s strict national team cap requirements, while a proposed move to Poland fell through after difficulties to acquire a Polish work permit.

But Osei handled the disappointment well and may well end up in mainland Europe once he turns 18.

Osei scored six goals as Ghana reached the semi-finals of the 2007 World U-17 Championships last year and is an integral member of the Ghana U-20 side that is seeking to reach the World U-20 Championships next year.

He has already scored twice in the qualifiers.
