Ghana striker Mark Adu Amofah is in Denmark to begin a two-year deal with newly promoted Danish Superliga side Sonderjysk Elitesport.

The former Bloemfontein Celtics and Asante Kotoko striker was deemed surplus to requirements at Celtics and is now hoping he can make his mark at the newly promoted side in Denmark.

“I am delighted with the opportunity to play in Europe and hopefully I will settle in well and get going straight away,” he told KickOffGhana.com. “I am looking forward to playing regularly and scoring goals for the side.”

The 21-year old scored three goals in ten games for Celtics in just one season. And even though he was effectively told by the club he was no longer needed, Amofah feels the move to Denmark represents a step forward.

“I had a good time at Celtic and made friends which made the decision to leave difficult, but for the sake of progress in my career it had to happen.

“When Celtic told me to look for a club I suppose it was a polite way of telling me that I wasn’t in their plans anymore. I still had a year remaining on my contract, but I have accepted that I have to move on.”

Amofah will join up with his new team mates on Thursday and hope he will make a better impression in Denmark than he left behind in South Africa.
