Ghana’s Black Satellites cruised to the quarter finals of the World Youth Championship (WYC) after beating Portugal 3-2 in a five-goal thriller.

The win which sets up a meeting with Chile was sealed by Richmond Yiadom Boakye who struck a dramatic late winner to headline a game of two comebacks.

Portugal begun as favourites following an impressive group stage campaign but Ghana steadily grew into the match, going ahead in 15minutes with a stunner from 30 yards by Kennedy Ashia.

Portugal rallied to pull even through Tiago Ferreira before Edgar Ie sent them ahead within two minutes.

The Satellites poured out insearch of an equalizer which arrived six minutes on when Michael Anaba squared home from within the six-yard box after Yiadom Boakye’s initial effort was parried.

The already dramatic game took on another twist when Yiadom Boakye blast home from a free-kick with the Portuguese wall split.
