Accra Hearts of Oak progressed to the round of 16 in the FA Cup Competition with a lone goal victory over B. A Stars at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday.

The two sides struggled in the first half to undo each other, but their efforts were fruitless with the half ending on a scoreless note.

Though playing with ten men following the marching off orders on Francis Afriyie in the later stages of the first half, BA Stars were resolute in defence and midfield and thwarted the efforts of Hearts anytime they made approach at scoring.

BA Stars on the other hand, also made efforts at scoring but found Robbin Gnagne, Nuru Sulley in Hearts defence very difficult to break.

With the game progressing to the end, Hearts mounted pressure on BA Stars in search of the winner and were presented with a free kick in the 84th minute, but Mahatma Otoo’s kick was saved by keeper Kwame Noah.

Four minutes, Otoo’s header was scooped out of the goal post by defenders of B. A Stars to deny Hearts the lead.

Hearts however managed to make amends during time-added-on when they were presented with a free kick, at the edge of the box with Otoo expertly converting it to grant them winner to end the day.
