Mario Balotelli is planning a first-ever visit to Ghana despite swapping the Black Stars for the Italian national team.

The Manchester City player who is born to Ghanaian parents is expected on the continent after the end of the Barclays Premier League.

His City teammate, Yaya Toure from Ivory Coast has confirmed Balotelli's desire to see Africa.

"We have decided to go together to Africa, to Ghana," revealed Toure.

"He is very keen to see Africa and wants to go with me. He has family in Ghana but is quite afraid of going on his own.

"He knows nothing about what it’s like there. So he asked me to help."

Mario Balotelli was born in Palermo to Ghanaian parents, Thomas and Rose Barwuah.

His health problems forced the family to ask for the help of social services who recommended that he be fostered.

And in 1993, the Barwuah family agreed to entrust the three-year-old boy to Francesco and Silvia Balotelli, with the legal move formalized by the Court of Brescia.
