Ghana will play England in the first ever meeting between the two nations in March.

The English FA today confirmed the March 29 fixture set for Wembley after scrapping their proposed friendly against Thailand.

The game will be played three days after Ghana takes on Congo in Brazzaville in the qualifying for the 2012 African Cup of Nations.

Ghana achieved the highest place of all African teams at the World Cup in South Africa last year, and were a penalty shoot out away from the semi-finals.

The clash at Wembley would be the first meeting at the senior level though the two nations have met before at youth level, with Ghana claiming a 4-0 win over England at the Fifa Under-20 World Cup two years ago.
