Ghana will host the second edition of the annual African Union (AU) Sports Ministers Conference next October in Accra.

The conference to be graced by Sports Ministers from countries that constitute the AU will be held from October 10 to 15 in Accra. Osei Bonsu Amoah, Deputy Minister of Education, Science and Sports told GNA Sports on Tuesday that the six-day event would discuss pertinent issues hovering on sports within the African continent.

"The conference will discuss future sports in Africa, the 2010 World Cup and the use of sports to achieve the Millennium Development Goals as well as the role of sports as a tool for peace and development."

He said Ghana's choice as hosts was unanimously agreed during the maiden edition of the conference held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia in 2007. Mr Amoah said Government has approved the event and has agreed to provide the necessary support towards its successful organization.
