| Thousand athletes join in Olympic Day Run |

About one thousand athletes took part in the Olympic Day Run 10-kilometre in the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis. The National Olympic Committee and Coca Cola Ghana Limited organised the Run.
Joshua Tam Nelson, a 26-year old teacher at Asakae placed first in the men's division followed by Francis Otu-Larbi a 25 year old wood designer in the second position with 23 old Alfred Abakah of Daboase placing third.
In the women's division, Monica Adjei came first with Rose Mensah coming second and Faustina Kuunang placing third.
Certificates and awards were presented to six-year old Ebenezer Amissah and Helena Kwofie, 13, who were the youngest boy and girl of the competition.
Yahaya Ali, 51 and Elizabeth Antwi, 60, were presented with awards for being the oldest man and woman participants.
James Forson, was adjudged the outstanding physically challenged person of the competition.
Mr Albert Tettey, General Secretary of the Ghana Olympic Committee who presented certificates and awards to the winners said the Run was to promote the development of physical and moral qualities which form the basis of sport.
He said it was also to use sports to educate young people to understand each other better and to spread the Olympic values of friendship, excellence and respect to create international goodwill.
Mr Tettey commended Coca Cola Ghana Limited for supporting the Ghana Olympic Committee to organise the Olympic Day Run over the past 12 years.
