Sowah fails in commonwealth bid

Lee McAllister stopped Godfred Sowah in the third round to become the new Commonwealth lightweight champion.

The Aberdeen Assassin landed a superb right hook 1min 43sec into the third to lift the title that had been left vacant by Amir Khan.

McAllister has now won 29 of his 31 contests with the prospect of a title defence against Gary McArthur likely to be his next challenge.
