Attoh Quarshie Gym's Michael Offei Dodoo put up an impressive performance last Friday night to hand Victor Kuwornu of Bronx Gym his first defeat in the nine week old Greater Accra Amateur Boxing Association (GAABA) League.

Both boxers were the only undefeated pugilists before their encounter in the highly competitive lightweight division. But in the end, Offei emerged superior with a split decision over the fans favourite, Kuwornu.

Kuwornu christened "Agya Koo" started on an inspiring note, capitalizing on his longer reach and landing several jabs and hard punches on the face of Dodoo, who replied with timely counterpunches.

The pace of the bout kept the fans on their toes throughout the stipulated four rounds, of which the second proved the turning point for Dodoo, who dazed Kuwornu with a sturdy right hand punch, compelling referee Amerley Turkson to invoke the mandatory eight-count rule.

Kuwornu survived the scare but Dodoo kept his tempo and was deservingly declared winner much to the chagrin of Kuwornu's corner men.

Daniel Amarteifio completed a double for Attoh Quarshie over Bronx in the same division by beating Jackson Nortey courtesy a unanimous points' win.

In other lightweight duels, Emmanuel Mensah of Will Power accounted for Evans Dodoo of Attoh Quarshie via a split points' decision while Odoi Yemofio of De-Oak Gym cruised unanimously over Emmanuel Abu of

Believers Gym. In the middleweight category, Emmanuel Martey of Square Deal stunned King Paul Lawson of Attoh Quarshie with a split points' decision win while, Charles Azumah, also Attoh Quarshie rode on a unanimous decision over Saviour Tetteh of Fit Square.

Emmanuel Quarshie secured Attoh Quarshie's fourth win of the night by outclassing Emmanuel Zatey of Fit Square via a majority decision in the welterweight division, just as Will Powers' George Addy replicated a similar feat over Sulemana Tetteh of Wisdom Gym in the flyweight division.

Samuel Yaw Addo glorified Fit Square's dominance in the bantamweight division with a unanimous points' victory over his gym colleague, Emmanuel Quartey, while Michael Pappoe of Panix reigned supreme over Enoch Adjei of Fit Square in the featherweight category.
